Obion County Board of Education
August 9, 2010

Agenda Item: VII.F.

Consider/Approve Agreement Between the Obion County Board of Education
and the Obion County Education Association

Background Information :

In accordance with TCA §§49-5-601, et seq., otherwise known as the “Education Professional Negotiations Act, the Board’s collaboration team and representatives of the Obion County Education Association (OCEA) renegotiated the Agreement between the Obion County Board of Education and the Obion County Education Association. This Agreement begins July 1, 2010 and ends June 30, 2013. In accordance with Article XXV, “The parties shall negotiate salaries, insurance, fringe benefits, and any revisions of Article XXII, Teacher Dress Code, during years two (2) and three (3) of this agreement.” Due to the state of the economy, salaries, insurance, and other benefits remained relatively unchanged from the prior contract. The only slight adjustment was to junior high coaching supplements. All other changes to the Agreement were clerical, wording, and clarification of a few issues.

Staff Recommendation:

On behalf of the Board’s collaboration team and OCEA representatives, I do recommend approval of the 2010 – 2013 Agreement between the Obion County Board of Education and the Obion County Education Association.
